Volunteer Program

Lois' Lodge

The strength and effectiveness of Lois’ Lodge is dependent on the generosity and dedication of its supporters in the community who are committed to a standard of quality care which truly improves the lives of the young women whom we serve. Our volunteer program is designed to promote and expand the organization’s services to meet the varied needs of the residents in our care.

The Lois' Lodge Volunteer

Lois’ Lodge is a Christian organization. You do not have to be a Christian in order to be a volunteer at Lois’ Lodge but your beliefs may affect your ability to provide leadership in some aspects of the ministry.

The Volunteer’s role is to be an encourager and friend, a role model, and a teacher of truth.  The Volunteer’s role is not to be a counselor or a “savior”.

Ready to Serve? Read below to learn of specific opportunties or complete a Volunteer Application now.

 Opportunities to Share the Ministry

There are many different ways you can become involved with Lois’ Lodge. One way is to help us to let others know about our ministry.  You can do this by:

  •    Hosting a living room presentation for your friends.
  •   Hosting a coffee for the women of your church.
  •   Inviting us to your church to do a Lois’ Lodge presentation

Church Liaison serves as the link between Lois' Lodge and your church. The liaison establishes the proper contact within the church and is responsible for getting current information regarding Lois' Lodge to the church for use in newsletters, bulletins and outreach purposes. The laisons look for opportunites to promote Lois' Lodge based on current activities within the church.

Opportunities to Teach

A volunteer who has experience, spiritual maturity and quality interpersonal skills makes an excellent teacher for the classes which will be offered at Lois’ Lodge.  These classes offer essential teaching and encouragement to the young women we serve.  The classes are held at the home one night a week for one to two hours.

Childbirth Classes

The teacher for this class is required to be a certified childbirth instructor.

Prenatal/ Nutrition Classes

Nurses and dieticians make excellent teachers of this class.  The young women are  taught  personal hygiene and healthy eating habits during their pregnancy.

Domestic Volunteers who are very talented in the domestic duties of a home are encouraged to plan a one time (or more) visit to the Home to teach the girls.  The residents would enjoy learning how to bake, sew, knit, crochet, cook, decorate and make crafts

Parenting

This class offers a curriculum which educates the young women on the emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects of parenting. The curriculum especially focuses on the

first few years of a baby’s life. (6 weeks)

Financial Planning

This class teaches the residents  the reality of the financial aspect of being a self-supporting adult. The residents are made aware of the expenses of housing, transportation, food and clothing in our society anare taught how to budget and save, and they are challenged to be good stewards of their money.

Mentors                               Mentors must have a personal and vital relationship with Jesus Christ, a lifestyle of purity and integrity.  Mentors must be mature and growing spiritually, and have a heart to minister using talents and giftedness. Mentors must have an desire to minister, be compassionate, genuine, able to show unconditional love and acceptance, humble and able to maintain confidentiality.  The goal of the mentoring relationship will be to facilitate the bonding and building of a relationship between the pregnant mom and a seasoned loving mentor.  This link will help the mom to grow spiritually and to strengthen the principles which are taught at Lois’ Lodge.
